BHP Billiton's Shenzi Facility Exceeding Production Expectations

BHP Billiton announced today that the Shenzi field in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, which began production on 23 March, has now exceeded the facility's nominal capacity of 100,000 barrels of oil per day by having achieved sustained rates of 120,000 barrels of oil per day.

BHP Billiton announced today that first oil and natural gas production has commenced from the Shenzi development in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. The tension leg platform (TLP) has a nominal capacity of 100,000 barrels of oil per day and 50 million cubic feet per day of natural gas, on a 100 percent basis.
