Illawarra Coal understands and appreciates the vital role the local community plays in the development of our company. The company has been mining coal in the Illawarra for close to 80 years, and we consider ourselves proud members of the local community.
The company has a strong history of supporting community initiatives in the regions where we operate through funding, donations of land, infrastructure and services, in-kind professional support and even just lending a hand where needed. We are proud of the support that we have provided to worthwhile community projects across the years.
We contributed A$888,108 to community programs during the financial year 2005-2006, as outlined in the following table:

Illawarra Coal funds a wide range of community projects primarily through our two community programs – the Illawarra Coal Community Partnerships Program (CPP) and the Dendrobium Community Enhancement Program (CEP).
Marquees for hire
Illawarra Coal has two marquees available for free hire for community events.
A proud local, Illawarra Coal has long supported various community organisations and initiatives, both financially and in-kind.
As an extra service, the Company makes two Illawarra Coal-branded marquees available for free hire for community events. They can be booked individually or as a pair for short periods of time (eg weekends) and have provided shade and shelter at a variety of functions including gala sporting days (pictured) and fetes.
Both marquees measure three metres square and come complete with pegs, ropes and a carry bag. They are user-friendly and can be erected in less than five minutes by two or three people.
