Community Sponsorship
Worsley Alumina has been closely involved in the economic and social development of its neighbourhood communities for 25 years.
One way it has achieved this is through community sponsorship. Worsley welcomes submissions from community groups and organisations who are seeking sponsorship support for special activities, projects or events.
The BHP Billiton Worsley Alumina Sponsorship Committee has been established to consider applications for direct or in-kind sponsorship requests and is responsible for requests for donations from recognised sporting, educational, cultural and service groups in the local community.
Worsley receives a large number of requests every year and preference is given to groups enjoying broad community support and especially those of relevance to the Worsley workforce and their families.
It is expected that BHP Billiton Worsley Alumina will be just one source of funds contributing to a project or cause, and further preference is given to groups that show a high level of self-help.
BHP Billiton Worsley Alumina retains absolute discretion over sponsorship decisions.
