Work Experience

Provides opportunities for students in Years 11 or 12 at high school, or students from TAFE and pre-apprentice courses to experience on-the-job conditions for a week or two at a time.

Apprenticeships

The Worsley apprenticeship program has a regular enrolment of about 40. Apprenticeship intakes occur in January every year. Positions are usually advertised in local newspapers in August. The number and type of apprenticeships vary from year to year. The types of trades offered include mechanical, electrical, fabrication and mechanical heavy duty.

Traineeships

Worsley offers traineeships in chemical plant process operations. This is a 12-month program involving all aspects of operating a chemical/refining process with an emphasis on workplace safety.

The traineeships provide extensive off-the-job theoretical training coupled with practical on-the-job experience. Traineeships are advertised in local newspapers each year.

Graduates

University and College graduates are encouraged to start their careers with Worsley. Opportunities exist for graduates to enter a two-year training program involving various aspects of their study.  As a Worsley Graduate, you will be part of the BHP Billiton Graduate Development Program. All applications must be received via http://jobs.bhpbilliton.com

Vacation Students

This program generally attracts second and third year university undergraduates and gives students a chance to put 'theory into practice'.

The vacation student intake occurs in December and usually takes place over a three-month period. During this time, students focus on projects relating to their specific areas of study.

Graduate level interest includes mechanical, electrical, chemical, civil and applications engineering, commerce and human resource management.
